New Video Series: Basics of Milking Machine Testing with VaDia
BioControl is pleased to announce a new practical video series on getting the most out of VaDia — our portable data loggers used to assess milking machine performance, milking efficiency, and parlour cleaning.
To create the series, we teamed up with Advance Milking and Tom Greenham, veterinarian and specialist in udder health and milking efficiency. Drawing on his hands-on experience in the field, Tom guides you step by step through using the VaDia and VaDia Suite software to improve cow health, welfare, and dairy herd profitability.
What the series covers
The videos follow the complete workflow, split into two parts for each test:
- On the farm — how to set up the VaDia and carry out each test correctly, from positioning the units and fitting the measuring tubes to recording live data with the VaDia+ app.
- In the office — how to import your data into VaDia Suite, read the traces, and generate clear, customisable reports for your farm clients.
Across the series, Tom works through the full range of assessments: the Milking Time Test, Fall-Off Test, Milking Resistance Test, Milking Parlour Efficiency, Pulsation Test, and the Slug Test for checking circulation cleaning — explaining not just how to run each one, but why it matters and what the results are telling you.
Who it's for
The series is designed first and foremost for newcomers and new VaDia users, breaking each test down into clear, manageable steps with no prior experience assumed. That said, we’d also encourage experienced technicians to take a look — it’s an ideal opportunity to refresh the fundamentals, pick up practical tips, and make sure you’re getting the most reliable results from every test.
